CHAMOMILE 20% (EXTERNAL USE) CHAMOMILE – THE PLANT Or Roman Chamomile. Scientific name: Anthemis Nobilis. Description: Perennial plant of the Asteraceae family, similar in plant and properties to the Germanic. Origin: Europe, Mediterranean. History: Its name comes from the ancient Greek “apple hamai” (apple that lies low, on the ground) because of its aroma that is reminiscent of an apple. The doctor Ariston prepared “colikin”, a medicine from chamomile for “all pains”. Its medicinal use exceeds 2,000 years, mainly in the Mediterranean and Egypt, where it was used as an antipyretic and was dedicated to Helios, the god of healing from infections. The Saxons considered it a sacred plant. CHAMOMILE – THE “ORGANIC” ESSENTIAL OIL Technique: Extracted from the flowers of the plant, by steam distillation. Composition: Containing mainly Esters (angelic and tiglic acid), Alcohols (amyl and isobutyl) and Ketones (l-trans, pinocarbone, 1,8-cineole, components that give the oil its therapeutic properties.
